  Sanctuary Volunteer of the Year Honored
John Galluzzo, education director for the South Shore Natural Science Center, has been named the Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary Volunteer of the Year for 2013. Click here to read about John's many efforts to raise public awareness about this special marine protected area.

The annual Massachusetts Marine Educators K-12 Marine Art Contest is now underway. Click here for the rules and an entry form. Deadline is May 2, 2014. Theme is "Amazing Ocean Creatures of Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary."

Winning art from the 2013 K-12 Marine Art Contest can be viewed on the web, in a calendar, or at a traveling exhibit. Click here to visit our online gallery. Our traveling exhibit of winning art can be viewed at the New Bedford Ocean Explorium through January 1. The 42nd Sanctuary Advisory Council meeting will be held on Thursday, May 29th, at NOAA Fisheries GARFO (formerly NERO), 9:30 am to 2:30 pm. Agenda will be forthcoming.
