Tribble
is the one and only calf of Anchor and the first grandcalf of
Olympia (See Olympia's
Family Tree). He has been seen in the feeding grounds
of the Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary since soon after
his birth in 1990. He is quite often seen throughout the
season.
Tribble
is good-sized male humpback. He is now probably beginning
to make himself known on the breeding grounds in the warm Caribbean.
He may even be a father; however, until more work is done
on DNA testing we won't know for sure. His offspring would
be the third generation in Olympia's lineage.
Trekkies
need no definition of the word Tribble, but for everyone else
a brief description may be needed. A "Tribble" is a small,
round, furry space creature which made its debut on the original
Star Trek television show. If you look very closely at his
fluke you may be able to find a few of these little, friendly
critters. These markings are the most predominant features
of his tail.
