Understanding resource use is key to the development of appropriate resource protection measures. The Vessel Use Survey is a major initiative.

Officers from NOAA's Office of Law Enforcement, the U.S. Coast Guard and the Massachusetts Environmental Police enforce federal laws in the 842-square-mile sanctuary.
