All of the photos were taken by sanctuary staff, by other NOAA employees, or NOAA partners during sanctuary research, or donated by sanctuary friends. United States Government works, including NOAA, are not subject to copyright in the United States (17 U.S.C. ยง 105); therefore, NOAA-created images may be used by the public. Images licensed or donated to NOAA, however, may be subject to copyright protection and used only with permission. If you use any of these images, please credit the sanctuary and photographer (if noted) and the research permit number assigned to wildlife research photos, or for non U.S. government photos, obtain permission from the photographer. To all photographers interested in seeing their images displayed, the Office of National Marine Sanctuaries sponsors an annual Get Into Your Sanctuary photo contest each year between Memorial Day Weekend and Labor Day Weekend. We encourage you to enter your best shots of your favorite sanctuary (Stellwagen Bank, or course) into the contest. There are divisions for Sanctuary Views, Sanctuary Life, Sanctuary Recreation, Sanctuary at Home.
