Atlantic Horseshoe Crab  

Atlantic Horseshoe Crab (Limulus polyphemus) - This crab is a living fossil which dates back 180 million years. Unmistakable in shape, this crab can be seen mating in late spring throughout the Northeast and cruising near shore through the summer months. Color greenish brown. Size: length to 2', width to 12". Found on sand or mud bottoms intertidally to 75'.
