Elongated Bottom Dwellers

Cusk  

Cusk -Short barbell under chin, wide mouth, continuous dorsal, short ventral fins, dorsal and anal fins have black stripe edged in white.

   

Atlantic Cod  

Atlantic Cod -blunt snout, single chin barbell, protruding upper jaw, small light brown spots on back, close to bottom.

   

   

Pollock - lateral line straight, body is not as tapered, lacking brown spots, lower jaw protruding, free swimming.

   

Red Hake  

Red Hake - 2 dorsals, streamer on first dorsal fin, large scales, deep water.

   

Spotted Hake  

Spotted Hake - no prolonged dorsal ray, black blotch with white border on dorsal. white spots along lateral line.

   

Four-beard Rockling  

Four-beard Rockling -first dorsal fin has single ray, short ventral fins, four barbells on head.
