Sanctuary Quiz

Correct!

Henry Stellwagen, a Lt. Commander in the Navy on loan to the US Coast Survey, was charged with mapping positions for possible lighthouse positions in Massachusetts Bay. In the course of his work he came upon a continuous bank at the mouth of the Bay. Over the course of 1854 and 1855 he mapped the entirety of the bank. He recognized the importance of this feature as an indicator at night or in bad weather of the approach to Massachusetts Bay and Boston Harbor. In recognition of his work, the Coast Survey named this newly mapped feature in Stellwagen's honor.
